Choosing Your Legal Entity
Limited Company (Private Limited – Ltd):
- Common structure for care providers; offers limited liability protection.
- Requires registration with Companies House and annual filings.
Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO):
- Suitable for not-for-profit operations; may access certain grants but entails charity commission oversight.
Partnerships or LLPs:
- Less common in residential care; partners share liability and profits.
Trusts or Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs):

Key Governance Roles
Responsible Individual (RI):
