The Welcare Unity League was created to connect children, young people and professionals in care through x beautiful game of football.
Children in care often lack a chance to connect across different homes and providers. We want to change that.
We hope to promote teamwork, belonging, physical wellbeing, and positive community spirit for staff and young people in care in West Yorkshire.
It all started on a cold, rainy day in Wakefield, during a simple 5-a-side match between staff and the young people in our care.
Despite the weather, the game became something special a moment of connection, laughter, and teamwork between young people from different homes.
Children and staff played side by side, united by the joy of the game. These kids from different countries, backgrounds, and stories found common ground on the pitch.
That day showed us what football can do.
Now, we want to bring that same spirit to more children across the care system.
