Key Challenges in Children’s Social Care

The report highlights several critical challenges:

  • Foster Care Decline: Fostering households are decreasing, although there’s a rise in kinship care placements.
  • Geographic Imbalance: A disproportionate number of children’s homes are located in the North West, far from where demand is highest.
  • Unregistered Homes: Over 1,000 unregistered homes were investigated, with nearly 90% operating illegally.

Welcare Children’s Homes is addressing these issues. Continue reading to find out how.

Welcare’s Commitment to Excellence

  • Expanding our reach to areas with the highest need.
  • Ensuring all our homes meet stringent regulatory standards.
  • Providing high-quality care tailored to individual needs.

Supporting Care Leavers and Preparing for Adulthood

The report emphasizes the need for better support as care-experienced young people transition to independence. Many are placed in supported accommodations that may not meet their specific needs.

Welcare is:

  • Designing bespoke care-leaving programs.
  • Partnering with local authorities to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Equipping young people with life skills for independence.

Raising Standards Together

The Annual Report underscores the interplay between education and social care. At Welcare, we’re inspired by this vision and committed to holding ourselves accountable to the high standards set forth in the report.
